Air France-KLM publishes a positive operating result in the fourth quarter; Project capacity returns to 2019 levels in 2024

(RTTNews) – Air France-KLM (AFRAF.PK) said it announced a positive operating result in the fourth quarter, higher than before Covid despite falling revenues, but offset by cost control programs and of restructuring. For the future, the Group expects the capacity in Available Seat Kilometers to return in 2024 to 2019 levels. The Group’s medium-term objective is maintained with an operating margin objective reconfirmed at 7% to 8% in 2024.

Current operating income amounted to 178 million euros against a loss of 1.14 billion euros a year ago. The net loss for the period – group share – amounted to 127 million euros against a loss of 1.00 billion euros. Income from ordinary activities amounted to 4.84 billion euros against 2.36 billion euros last year.

Passenger network capacity in the fourth quarter in available seat kilometers was 53% higher than last year and 72% of the level in the fourth quarter of 2019.

For 2021, the Group recorded a positive EBITDA of €745 million. Net debt stood at 8.2 billion euros, down 2.8 billion euros compared to the end of 2020.

For the first quarter of 2022, the Group expects to have an EBITDA close to breakeven. The Group anticipates a capacity in seat-kilometres offered for the passenger activity of the Air France-KLM network at an index of between 73% and 78% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of 2019.
