Moving on Music is delighted to present the wonderful Fidelio Trio as they perform a newly commissioned suite of music in a unique collaboration with uilleann bagpiper Cillian Vallely (of Lúnasa fame). Shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, Fidelio Trio are described as “virtuoso” (Sunday Times) and perform the widest range of repertoire on concert stages around the world, winning new fans wherever they perform.
With roots in traditional Irish music, these groundbreaking new works are vivid musical evocations inspired by iconic artist John B. Vallely’s portraits of traditional musicians. Famous Irish composers who have created new music specifically for this project include Linda Buckley, Niall Vallely and Rose Connolly (commissioned by Moving On Music) and Shaun Davey, Neil Martin and Irene Buckley.
The program also includes contemporary Irish composer David Fennessy’s ‘The blue-eyed lassie’ from his recent Fidelio Trio commission and two works by the late Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin specially dedicated to the trio; (must be more) Crispy! and Fidelio Unsung.
The concert ends with a special arrangement of the slow tune Port na bPúcaí’ from the Blasket Islands for this ensemble.
