Integrated Air Solutions recently signed a partnership agreement with Italian pipe and fittings manufacturing specialist, AIRCOM Piping Systems, with the aim of offering customers in Southern Africa best-in-class compressed air solutions.
Based in Jet Park, Johannesburg, and a member of the GiGi group of companies, Integrated Air Solutions is an exclusive regional sales and service partner for well-known air compressor brands such as ELGi Equipment and FS-Eliott.
“The biggest cost of owning an air compressor isn’t the machine itself; it’s the process of generating compressed air that uses a lot of energy,” notes Trevor Volker, managing director of Integrated Air Solutions. “It is therefore crucial that an air compressor operates at optimum efficiency to ensure the lowest possible total cost of ownership throughout the life cycle of the machine.” The ELGi range of premium air compressors incorporate advanced technologies that optimize machine performance, reliability and efficiency.
“However, a high-quality machine is only part of the efficiency solution,” continues Trevor. “High-quality piping and fittings also play a fundamental role here. Although air leaks may seem like a small problem, they can actually be significant contributors to increased energy consumption. In addition to the costs of wasted air generation, air leaks force the compressor to work harder in order to reach the same required pressures, which requires more energy. Trevor adds that a machine operating under constant stress also increases component wear.
Escalating energy costs and increasing focus on health and safety and decarbonization processes are major drivers for a notable increase in market demand for lightweight compressed air piping solutions, energy efficient, flexible and scalable. “This demand can be met by upgrading from traditional galvanized piping to an advanced lightweight aluminum piping system solution,” says Trevor.
With aluminum’s strong lightweight properties, air wastage and leaks are eliminated, as are all costs associated with increased energy consumption, product replacements and downtime contingencies to allow for repairs.
“AIRCOM’s 25+ years of experience, combined with its proven global track record, has put the Italian company on our radar,” continues Trevor. Integrated Air Solutions decided to test AIRCOM’s aluminum piping and fittings in a demanding mining application in the Northern Cape. “The team was impressed with the performance of the products under grueling conditions. Equally remarkable was the ease and speed of the installation process. Recognizing the significant time and cost savings that these heavy-duty aluminum piping and fittings systems will offer our customers, AIRCOM has become the obvious supplier of choice.
AIRCOM’s ISO 9001 (TÜV) quality assurance certification, combined with the company’s in-house development capabilities and deep technical know-how, ensures piping and fittings that set the industry’s global benchmark in efficiency, reliability and flexibility. The modular design of the AIRCOM Quick Line pipe and fitting system provides flexibility and adaptability to meet a wide range of compressed air system requirements. Plus, the system is expandable, allowing it to grow with plant extensions. Quick and easy installation will minimize customer downtime, ensuring optimum plant uptime. Robust and reliable piping and fittings provide optimum consistent performance with lasting energy savings for customers. “In a nutshell, AIRCOM aluminum pipe and fittings systems will increase plant uptime, improving production while reducing customers’ carbon footprints,” concludes Trevor.
In line with the partnership agreement signed in May 2022, the Integrated Air Solutions team of service technicians will be trained by AIRCOM factory specialists to ensure a seamless customer experience.
