“Jojo” is a name Bulldogs fans quickly become familiar with. While senior starting goaltender Emma Soderberg is playing for Sweden at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, second-year Minnesota goaltender Duluth Violet “Jojo” Chobak has been in net for the Bulldogs. Recently, she helped UMD earn their first victory in Wisconsin since 2010.
In this week’s episode, Chobak tells The News Tribune’s Matt Wellens and My9’s Zach Schneider what it was like learning to play hockey in Chicago and how she became a goaltender. They discuss UMD’s reputation as the “Goaltending U”, her relationship with Soderberg, and which Olympic athlete she would most like to meet.
KDAL’s Bruce Ciskie also stops by the podcast as he, Matt and Zach discuss the UMD men’s game at St. Cloud State last Tuesday, the long review of a St. Cloud State shootout and the Olympics in 2022.
